This Month in Warcraft

Welcome to 2017 Reciprocity! I’m excited to enjoy another year with our amazing guildies, earning achievements, taking names, and clearing raids. Let’s get this year off to a good start by checking in with the Warcraft calendar.

January 1-8: the Darkmoon Faire returns once again. Remember to make time between getting attuned for Karazhan and grinding AP to head to the Darkmoon Faire and pick up some of the exclusive pets and mounts. You can buy the Swift Forest Strider and Darkmoon Dancing Bear from Lhara for 180 Darkmoon prize tickets. For 500 Darkmoon Daggermaw the Darkwater Skate can be purchased from the fishing vendor, Galissa Sundew. There are also a number of achievements you can pick up during the Darkmoon Faire. Some with come with rewards, such as Ace Tank Commander which rewards players with Darkmoon Tonk Controller and That’s Whack! which rewards players with Hogs’ Studded Collar. January 3-10: the Arena Skirmish Bonus Event. While this event is active, Honor Gains from Arena Skirmishes are increased by 50%. If you are looking to obtain one of the beautiful PvP mounts, this is the time to push PvP playing. To pick up your Champion’s Strongbox talk to Archmage Timear in Dalaran to get The Arena Calls quest.


January 10-17: the World Quest Bonus Event Begins, while this bonus event is active reputation gain with the active faction is increased. This week of increased reputation gain has various other bonuses as well. It is a good time to add to your total number of world quests for the the Variety is the Spice of Life achievement, if you complete 200 world quests and have your Hidden Artifact appearance you will earn a color variation. If you do not have the fox mount and/or need to catch up on reputation with the Nighfallen this week is the ideal time to do their world quests.


January 17-24: the Timewalking Dungeon Event Begins: Northrend timewalking. Players who queue for a timewalking dungeon this week will be able to run through Ahn’kahet, Gundrak, Halls of Lightning, Nexus, Pit of Saron, and Utgarde Pinnacle as though they are current content. Players will receive gear relevant to their natural level. Timewalking dungeons also reward Timewarped Badge  which can be used to buy various items including the Bridle of the Ironbound Wraithcharger. Timewalking bosses have a chance to drop Reins of the Infinite Timereaver.


January 21:  the Lunar Festival Begins, during which players can earn Coin of Ancestry to spend on heirloom upgrades, themed fireworks, various foods and clothing patterns, and the Lunar and Festival Lanterns (shown above). The achievement from this festival To Honor One’s Elders is a requirement for the achievement What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been, which rewards Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake.


January 24-31: brings the Battleground Bonus Event. During this time players receive the Sign of Battle buff which boots Honor gain by 50%. Be sure to pick up the weekly bonus quest from Archmage Timear in Dalaran for some extra Artifact Power, Honor, and Honor Marks.


January 31: starts the Legion Dungeon Event. During this event the final boss in any Legion dungeon drops an extra item from their loot pool. This is a great time to queue for some extra gear.
